FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where do I store my stuff after school ends? Where can I stay after I get kicked out of my housing?
We have staff and current students that open their housing up for students to stay until Summer Conference. Please mark this down on the registration form.
This will be my first time to Summer Conference. Will I be able to put in my deposit of $75 and still lock-in the $299 special?
Yes!
I'm not a Christian. Can I still go?
Summer Conference is a safe place for everyone to check out faith. You are more than welcome to come.
I'm can't afford to go, but I really want to. What should I do?
We never want money to be a barrier for folks going. Please fill out our scholarship application (link above) - we are able to give grant based scholarships as well as loans that can help you pay off your balance. We have never turned down people because they couldn't afford to go. Please let us know what your actual need is. Please also do your best to save throughout the year (don't eat out as much, etc.). We will also have fundraisers and work-projects throughout the semester to help raise money so folks can go. Be sure to keep an out for this!
I can't make it the whole time, can I still go?
We deeply value community and it becomes harder to build community when folks come in and out of the conference. We are also on an island, which makes coming and going logistically harder. As a result, we only allow people to leave 1 day early or 1 day late due to one of the following reasons (weddings, funerals, graduations, and unchangeable flight arrangements).
Students that need to leave 1 day early: You will need to book their own boat back (http://www.catalinaexpress.com/). You will pay $10 to get a boat from Campus by the Sea to Avalon. You will be taking a charter boat from the Avalon Terminal to San Pedro at 10:45am. This will cost an additional $36. Total $46.
There is no discount for arriving late or leaving early. Please email intervarsitytcf@gmail.com if you need to arrive late or leave early.
I want to get the $299 special, but I can't afford the $75 deposit right now. What do I do?
Please fill out the scholarship request form. Also, use the donate button on Step 3 to put in the amount you can afford to pay to lock-in your special. Afterwards, send us an email to let us know. (intervarsitytcf@gmail.com)
I'm an upperclassmen and involved in Intervarsity. However, I've never been to Summer Conference before. Do I still qualify for the $299 special?
Yes! The $299 special is for people that have never been to Summer Conference before, regardless if you've gone to other Intervarsity events.
I paid my deposit and found out that I cannot go anymore. What should I do? Can I get a refund?
You can get a refund except for the deposit. The $75 deposit is non-refundable because it is the price of the boat ticket that we pay once folks register. If you paid less than $75 to lock-in your price and you cannot attend anymore, you are still required to pay the full $75 deposit.
Who's allowed to apply for scholarships? Does it matter what time I apply?
Anyone can apply. It doesn't matter what time you apply, just do it before the deadline.
Can I transfer my registration fee to someone else?
Unfortunately, your registration is non-transferrable. If for some reason you are no longer able to join us, you will still be responsible for the $75 non-refundable deposit.

ACTIVITIES AT CATALINA
During the afternoons each day we will have several hours of free time at camp. Activities at Campus-by-the-Sea include kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, hiking into the interior of the island, volleyball, basketball, and ping-pong. You may want to bring appropriate clothing, swimsuit, sunscreen, etc. for these activities. There will also be group activities throughout the week:
Wednesday - Kayak Race
Thursday - Talent Show, Dance Party
PHONE / INTERNET ACCESS AT CATALINA
Because we will be at a remote part of Catalina Island, you will have no cell phone reception. There are, however, two pay phones you can use should you need to make an emergency phone call. Additionally, should anyone (i.e. family) need to get a hold of you while you're at camp, they can call (310) 510-0015. They can leave a message and your name with one of the camp staff and the message will be relayed to you. No internet access is available.
NEW PILLOW AND BLANKETS POLICY
Because of the severe drought in California (and especially Catalina Island), there will be no access to pillows and sheets, to save water washing them. As a result, please bring your own. If you forget, they will be charging $10 for the rental of pillows and sheets.
