WELCOME TO USC

Fall Conference 2011 Details
In a few days we will be heading out to InterVarsity’s camp on Catalina Island, Campus-by-the-Sea, from September 23-25. Here are all the details you need to know about as you prepare to join us out on the island.

WHAT TO BRING
Sleeping bag, pillow, flashlight, toiletries (hot showers and bathroom facilities are available at camp), towel, Bible, notebook, pen, camera, and warm clothes (it can get cool at night). There is a snack/gift shop as well as a book table with some great discounted IVP books, so be sure to bring some money if you want to buy anything.

ACTIVITIES AT CATALINA
During the afternoon on Saturday we will have several hours of free time at camp. Activities at Campus-by-the-Sea include kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, volleyball, basketball, and ping-pong. We will also have our annual running of the Great Race. You may want to bring appropriate clothing, swimsuit, sunscreen, etc. for these activities.

PHONE AND INTERNET ACCESS AT CATALINA
Because we will be in a remote area of Catalina Island, phone access is limited and there is no internet connection. Your cell phone will likely get no reception. There are, however, two pay phones you can use during free time should you need to make a phone call. Additionally, should anyone (i.e. family) need to get a hold of you while at camp, the phone numer of camp is (310) 510-0015. They can leave a message with one of the camp staff and the message will be relayed to you.

ARRIVAL
Please arrive on the top level of PSX (Parking Structure X, next to McCarthy Quad) on Friday at 4:00pm. We will load up cars and head out from there. Once we arrive at the San Pedro Terminal, we’ll be taking a 75-minute boat ride to the island. Please bring $2 cash to help your driver with gas expenses. You can expect to be back at USC on Sunday no later than 4:00pm. If you indicated you could drive, you will be needed as a driver. You'll be getting an email in the next couple days letting you know driving directions.

FRIDAY DINNER
You have two options for dinner on Friday: (1) Buy food at the Terminal. Or (2) Bring food with you when you arrive at PSX to eat when you arrive at the Terminal. There is also an microwave in the dinning hall at Catalina if you want to microwave your food.  Snacks (but not a full dinner) will be provided by Campus-by-the-Sea later on Friday night. (Please do NOT stop on the way for fast food as we are on a pretty tight schedule.)
